Race matters not.


I think many people just see VK as a random romance story with vampires as a bonus, but it's deeper than it seems, if you start thinking of the whole plot about the coexistence between vampires and humans, and the difficulties the two races have to get along.

The first arc covered often the fact the vampires feel tempted to feed on the humans, and the second arc is starting to go more in detail over the fact many humans want to take advantage of the vampires and do horrible things for their powerful blood etc... :S

Sure, it's a fictional world and a fictional race, but difficulties to coexist, issues about equality, discrimination, racial hatred etc.... those are all subjects that find a mirror in the real world, and that are very important. ^^/
I find that aspect of VK fascinating.

Even though most of the characters struggling for racial equality etc. in it are doing it not out of some great philosophical ideal but more because of their loved ones. XD (Kaien did it for Juri, and I suspect Kaname cares for the cause so much because of Yuuki, even though I'm sure he'd also try his best otherwise too, because of his own ideals and his parents' ones.)

But then, is it not also very realistic? In the real world, when we stand against oppression, racism etc., we don't always do it exclusively for the sake of an ideal, we do it because we want to create a better world for the ones we love.


Errr, somehow all this talk makes the pic look deeper than it actually is. 8D;;
I'd originally just meant to draw them as a happy family because it was a cute mental image I had, (Zero is still fitting in, hence the scowl, although the chairman insisted in pulling him in closer for the group photo despite him not wanting XD XD *LOL*), without necessarily thinking of the greater image, but as I drew it I started to think of the fact they're from such different backgrounds and races, and yet....... no matter what, they ARE a family. X3



Eh, with some luck the message of peace would also help getting the fandom to quit bashing and ship-warring so bad. ;-;

I'm a huge fan of the main trio, and ideally would love to see them end up together (they're my OT3 X3), so it is particularly painful when I see people bashing either side. T_T

At least Zero is lucky, very few people bash him, but Kaname gets so much hatred online in the western fandom, and in such an unfair manner.
A lot of people spread misinformation about him and act as if he's some kind of evil being, and lots of the younger fans who didn't read all of the manga or who didn't read in depth and missed stuff, end up believing and spread more hate. :-/

In truth, both Zero and Kaname are lovely, and we should just love whatever character we may want and enjoy the series without bashing anyone, because bashing and flaming accomplishes nothing other than hurting the feelings of the fans of the character being constantly trashed. ^^/
