River Tam from the TV series Firefly and movie Serenity.
It's the first time I draw something like that for a western fandom, it feels almost strange. ; *lol* (Especially because it's live action, while here it's an illustration. XD; Oh well. *lol*)
In case you don't know the series : River is far from being normal, and so I did that background to give the idea that it's in a certain way, her mind. All exterior appearances are pretty and soft, but actually, it's breaking apart / not right inside. ^^/
Oh, I rely like her dress its like to old Japanese panting that were mimicking origami paper. its relly good.

I love the old times paintings, and old/traditional paper in general.
I actually collect the pretty decorative origami pappers, especially the oens with kimono patterns. XD *loves them*
Her dress was made with a scrapped rusty metal texture added underneath the color, to give that speckled "different" feeling to the color.
Likewise, underneath all the painted layers of background I added a texture for a paint effect on a wall, making the background behind her look like it's cracking open / breaking apart.
Your discretion is vary explanatory
ps I'm a member of Origami USA and every summer people gather from all over the word to tech and learn to fold and even make the paper. the head family’s that own the tradition kimono patterns come with huge roles of it; but Honolulu Hawaii has the best shop in the US for paper theirs over 1000 different hand made paper...its haven...we git them in huge sheets for my grandmother she “paints” with them [link]

Yes the tradition thing are amassing especially win you watch someone whose don it there whole life you know? It takes you 2 hours to do something they can do in 30 mints. I’m trying to convince my grandmother to set up a DA account for her print but she hates computers so…

Yeah, I know. Personnally, I like to believe that everybody can achieve that state, because otherwise I feel it's not fair, but maybe it's true that some people are actually gifted.
I can draw with both hands (less well with the left one, naturally), can do a character pencil sketch in under 20 seconds, and do a detailed full color CG picture in under 15 to 20 minutes (for chest and up). I have even tried drawing with my eyes closed for fun, and can do that too, although of course not as well as when I have my eyes open.
People often tell me I'm gifted and that this isn't normal. I prefer to believe that given the right amount of training/practice, and with the right amount of motivation, anyone can get like that too. ^_^
I have achieved my happy medium, its good enough for me when I look bake at my work and say to my self "how on earth did I do that?" I have moments like that after test when I'm just doodling a sketch of the teacher ands suddenly its like I managed to ,for a instant capture them on paper, that makes me fell good because it the reason why I draw in the fist place

I heard Hawaii has many japanese things, that's cool, especially for Origiami paper collectors, I guess.
I followed a temari making course for a while, years ago, with the seasonal patterns and all. XD Traditional activities can be so much fun.
